Araki Kanpo (1831 - 1915)

Kanpo was born in Edo (present Tokyo).
He studied painting under Araki Kankai.
Later, Kanpo became his adopted son.
Kanpo enjoyed Yamanouchi Yodo (=Top of Tosa Domain)'s favor and became an official painter of the domain.
After the Meiji Restoration, he became a teacher of the Tokyo School of Fine Arts (Tokyo Bijutsu Gakko).
