He was ordained as Hogen rank.

Description

This scroll may have been re-mounted.
There are some spots and stains on the drawing part.
Although, the condition of this scroll is good.
The well-known historical scene is painted well.
Taira no Tadamori (1096 - 1153), Samurai knight who served Abdicated Emperor Shirakawa, was ordered to kill the monster who walked around in the Imperial Palace.
Tadamori doubted if he was a real monster or not, then, Tadamori decided to capture the monster.
Once he captured the monster, he found it was not a monster, it was just an old man whose job was to suffuse candles with oil in the palace.
Later, Abdicated Emperor Shirakawa praised Tadamori's bravery and coolness.
This is the scene.
It was painted by Kano Tohaku, the 5th head of the Surugadai Kano school in Edo.
