Description |
The scroll is a little foxed overall as it was painted years ago.
We estimate it was painted in the Edo period (1603-1868) or at the early
part of the Meiji era (1868-1912).
There are several tears on the mounting part.
There are spots, stains, folds and creases on the drawing part.
As a whole, the condition of this scroll is not good.
The figure is Kukai (774-835, also known posthumously as Kobo-Daishi),
great founder of the Shingon-Shu Sect of Buddhism. |
