Japanese painter, and also woodblock printmaker.
Born in Kanda of Edo.
Became a disciple of Kikuchi Yosai and Shibata Zeshin.
Even though Yosai was the giant of historical paintings,
Seitei was good at painting flowers & birds pictures because Yosai
advised him not to preserve his master's style.
Seitei sent his artwork to the World Expo held at Paris in 1878 and won
a prize.

Description |
This scroll may have been re-mounted.
Though, there are a few holes at the top of the mounting which are already
repaired.
Those repairs are not so noticeable.
There are some spots on the painting part.
Although, the condition of this scroll is not bad.
Swimming carp (Koi Fish) under flowers are painted very well.
The scroll looks so nice !
