Yuhi was born in Nagasaki of Hizen Province (present Nagasaki Prefecture).
He became an adpoted son of the Kumashiros whose family business was interpretation
between Japanese and Chinese.
In 1731, Yuhi became a disciple of Shin-Nanpin, Chinese painter who came
to Japan from Qing Dynasty.
Yuhi acquired Nanpin's painting style in a short period.
He carried down that style (Sketch style Flowers-and-Birds painting) to
other Japanese painters such as So Shiseki.
Yuhi deceased in 1773 at the age of 81.

Description |
The scroll is a little foxed overall as it was painted years ago.
There are spots and rucks on the painting part.
There are tears, folds and amotions on the mounting.
The wooden rod at the top is shortened for some reason, and the fabric
around that rod is torn.
As a whole, the condition of this scroll is not good.
Although, fortunate flowers and leaves (Matsu, Ume, Bamboo & Peony)
in floral arrangement are drawn with vivid paints.
