Hohko was born in Ehime Prefecture in the 12th year of the Meiji era.
His real given name is Riemon.
The other pen name is Hakuun Dojin.
He studied painting under Matsumoto Fuko and Kawai Gyokudo.
In 1899, Hohko sent his work to the Nihon Kaiga Kyokai Exhibition for the
first time.
After that, he sent several works to the same exhibitons and received prizes
more than once.
He was accepted for the first Bunten Exhibition held in 1907.
He also received several prizes of the subsequent Bunten Exhibitions.
He died on February 10 of the 31st year of the Showa era at the age of
77.
