Shunoh was born in Aichi Prefecture in the 20th year of the Meiji era.
His real given name was Denjiro.
Shunoh is a pseudonym.
He studied Japanese-style painting under Kodera Unto.
Later, Shuntoh went to Kyoto and became a disciple of Yamamoto Shunkyo.
Shuntoh flourished in Kyoto as a member of the Sanae-Kai, though, he went
back to Nagoya, Aichi Pref. after the Second World War.
He was good at depicting Sansui-ga landscapes.
He is counted as a master of the Chukyo area circle of painters. |
