Artist Saito Shizan(1902 - 1963)

Shizan was born in Shiga Prefecture.

His real given name was Yukichi.

He graduated from the Kyoto Painting School.

He became pupil of Maeda Seison and Yamamoto Shunkyo.

Shizan was accepted for the Teiten Exhibitions several times, for the Shin-Bunten Exhibition once.

After the World War 2, he was accepted for the first Nitten Exhibition.

He was good at painting graphic flowers & birds, landscape view pictures.

Description

There are spots, stains and folds to some extent.
Very small tears on the mounting are also recognized.
Although, the condition of this scroll is not bad.
Mt. Fuji is painted grandly with skilled techniques.
This scroll is large one.
