Eon was a Buddhist priest belonged to the Myoshin-Ji school of the Rinzai-Shu Sect of Zen Buddhism.
He was the 21st head priest of the Soufuku-Ji Temple in Gifu city of Gifu Prefecture.
The Soufuku-Ji is with a long and distinguished history.
It was founded in the spring of 1390.
It was assigned as the family temple of the Oda family by Oda Nobunaga, greatest Samurai lord in the Sengoku period.

Description

There are spots to some extent on the drawing part.
A few folds are recognized.
Although, the condition of this scroll is not bad.
A Kanji Zen phrase is drawn in good form with Japanese brush.
The phrase means "A mind in comfort like a big mountain".
This scroll is for Chanoyu (Japanese tea ceremony).
Of course, it is also good for hanging in a ordinary room.
