The 56th representative (Kancho) of the Obaku-Shu Sect of Zen Buddhism.
The Obaku is the third largest sect of Zen Buddhism in Japan (Next to the
Rinzai-Shu and Soto-Shu).
Zenryo was born in Shiga Prefecture.
He trained Zen Buddhism under Yamada Gyokuden, and received a Buddhistic
permission (Inka) from him.
Zenryo became the chief priest of the Manpuku-Ji Temple.
He died in the 59th year of the Showa era at the age of 87. |

There are some spots and stains on the drawing part.
Although, the condition of this scroll is not bad.
A Kanji Zen phrase is drawn powerfully with Japanese brush.
The phrase describes the direct translation as "The color of luxuriant
Matsu tree leaves is happy one".
It is meaningful phrase. |
