Eikai became a Tendai Buddhist monk at the age of 11.
Later, he became the chief priests of the Kanei-Ji Temple and Rinnoh-Ji
Temple.
He was ordained as the Great Bishop of the Tendai-Shu Sect.
Eikai became the chief priest of the Senso-Ji Temple in 1918.
He deceased in the 3rd year of the Showa era at the age of 78. |

Description |
The scroll is a little foxed overall as it was drawn years ago.
Tears and stains with water are recognized.
There are quite a few small spots.
As a whole, the condition of this scroll is so-so.
The phrase roughly says about refreshing breeze in the spring.
It was drawn by Eikai, the Great Bishop of the Tendai-Shu Sect. |
