Gogyo was born in Kyoto in the last days of the Samurai period.
His real given name was Seizaburo.
Gogyo is a pseudonym.
He studied the Shijo style painting under Morikawa Sobun.
He was accepted for the Japan Domestic Exhibition, Bunten Exhibiton and
others.
He teached at the Kyoto Municipal School of Arts and Crafts.
He deceased in 1919 at the age of 56.

This is rather long scroll.
There are some spots and stains.
The lid of the wood box is a little broken.
As a whole, the condition of this scroll is not so bad.
A Japanese hawk (Taka Bird) on a Matsu tree branch is drawn artistically
with Japanese brush.
