This is rather big scroll.
We estimate it was drawn in the Meiji period (1868-1912) or at the end
part of the Edo period (1603-1868).
Unfortunately there are frays, tears, worm-eaten holes, stains and folds
to some extent.
As a whole, the condition of this scroll is not good.
Although, Daruma (Bodhidharma, Patriarch of Zen Buddhism) is drawn artistically
using Japanese Fude brush and black Sumi ink only.
A Kanji poem is also written at the top. |
