Description |
The scroll is a little foxed overall as it was drawn years ago.
We estimate it was drawn during the Edo period (=before 1868).
Unfortunately, there are many small spots in whole.
Folds and small tears are recognized.
One of the roller ends is lost.
As a whole, the condition of this scroll is not good.
Although, the Shinno Deity, God of Agriculture and Remedy, is drawn well
in the Suiboku painting method with Japanese brush.
The drawer is anonymous, however,we can know that he was ranked as Hogen.
Hogen was the second highest rank of which painters could be appointed
in the Edo period. |
