Description |
This scroll was drawn in the summer of 1923.
It is a little foxed overall as it was drawn years ago.
There are some spots, stains, folds, breaches and tears.
Several scrawls with Sumi ink at the bottom are found.
As a whole, the condition of this scroll is not good.
Although, Daruma is drawn powerfully and artistically using Japanese brush.
A Kanji poem is also drawn at the top.
Bodhidharma is regarded as the patriarch of Zen Buddhism in China.
It is said that he came from India and lived in a cave nearby the Shaolin
Temple where he faced a wall in meditation for nine years. |
