He lived in Osaka.
He studied woodblock printing and painting under Tsukioka Settei.
Gyokuzan was ordained as Hokkyo rank.
He was good at expressing figures and flowers & birds.

Description |
Three-Scroll set.
Each scroll is foxed overall as each was drawn years ago.
There are noticeable folds and tears.
Stains are also recognized.
One Kakeo band for hanging was cut, and it is connected again.
As a whole, the condition of this scroll set is not good.
The motifs are the Jurojin Divinity (one of the Seven Deities of Good Fortune),
deer, Tsuru birds (cranes), Kame (Tortoises), Matsu & Bamboo trees, Ume flowers.
Those motifs are drawn well.
Those are all considered as fortunate beings in Japan.
