Goun was born in Kyoto Prefecture in the 10th year of the Meiji era.
His real given name was Genjiro.
Goun is a pseudonym.
He studied Japanese-style painting under Kishi Chikudo and Takeuchi Seiho.
Goun flourished at the prewar Kyoto circle of painters.
He presided at the Shincho-Sha painting association.
He also became a professor of the Kyoto Municipal School of Painting.
Goun deceased in the 13th year of the Showa era at the age of 62.

Description

There are many faint spots at the top of the mounting.
Those are not so noticeable.
Some folds are recognized.
There are some stains on the painting part.
As a whole , the condition of this scroll is so-so.
Although, a swimming couple of Japanese carp (Koi fish) is painted vividly.
It is considered a symbol of happiness of a family in Japan.
