Nakajima Shunoh (1887 - ?)

Shunoh was born in Aichi Prefecture in the 20th year of the Meiji era.
His real given name was Denjiro.
Shunoh is a pseudonym.
He studied Japanese-style painting under Kodera Unto.
Later, Shuntoh went to Kyoto and became a disciple of Yamamoto Shunkyo.
Shuntoh flourished in Kyoto as a member of the Sanae-Kai, though, he went back to Nagoya, Aichi Pref. after the Second World War.
He was good at depicting Sansui-ga landscapes.
He is counted as a master of the Chukyo area circle of painters.

Description

The scroll is very slightly foxed overall as it was painted years ago.
There are a few slight folds on the mounting.
There are some spots on the drawing part.
As a whole, the condition of this scroll is not so bad.
A Sansui-ga mountainous landscape is painted well with vivid colors.
This scroll looks nice.
