It is foxed overall as it was painted over 130 years ago. There are some spots and stains, however they are not so noticeable. The condition of this scroll is good in consideration of passage of time. This is very very nice and tasteful scroll. The motifs were painted very artistically. (Ume is Japanese apricot tree.) We can imagine the painter's skills from this artwork. Please note that this scroll is not authenticated by an appraiser. So, we cannot guarantee that this scroll was certainly painted by Chodo Maeda. |
