This scroll was drawn in May of 1858, in the Edo period. It is foxed overall as it was painted years ago. There are holes, spots, stains and folds. As a whole, the condition of this scroll is not good. Though, the sun and horse are painted artistically. The painter, Makoto Kishi was appointed as Tanbanosuke, very high rank. The Kanji writing is by Takamatsu Daizen Gondayu Tamotsu. He was a retainer at high rank of the Japanese Emperor. |
